The installation Zinneke consists of nests of parakeets integrated into the rear space of the MAAC with audio recordings of their calls in the city. Initially released by the Heysel Zoo in 1974, these exotic birds, much present in parks and green spaces in Brussels, are now domesticated. Due to the global climate crisis they thrive in the “new” climate of Brussels. Thus, the Zinneke installation is a metaphor for migration, the relationship between migrants and their new environment and their relationship with the local population.
